What is a Sleep Consultant?

What is a Sleep Consultant, I hear you ask…

A sleep consultant is likely someone you have never heard of unless you have needed to find one. I call you people the lucky ones, or are you the ones that have missed out on something that could have/still can change your life?

A lot of us have been there, in the depth of the night, maybe on the 4th feed and it’s only 2 am and we take to our smartphones and start the search “How do I get my baby to sleep?” or “Does bottle feeding help my baby sleep longer?” or my favourite “Why will my baby only sleep in my arms?”.

These questions are just the start of what can be, for some parents, very stressful, exhausting and overwhelming weeks, months or even years.

As a parent we are often too proud to ask for help, or at least I was to start with. We assume a lot of things will fall into place in time or with experience, and often we’ve had to tighten our belts in preparation for the arrival of our little sleep thief and we hold on just that little while longer to see if something finally clicks. Afterall, sleep is as natural as eating and breathing!

We know that everyone is different and that means that everyone copes with sleep deprivation differently. Our tolerance levels can be affected by other things that are going on in our lives and we all need different amounts of sleep depending on our make-up.

What we can do to help!

Well, firstly I will listen to you, your concerns, your needs and your desired goals. You can know that you are talking to someone who has been where you are and we understand that you have probably tried to resolve the issue yourselves, trying desperately to get some much-needed sleep.

My hope is that I can provide you with the support you need while teaching you ways to help your little one sleep better so that everyone benefits from healthier sleep hygiene; however that might look for your family.

I will take the time to understand you and will create a custom sleep plan based on your child’s personality and your family’s needs.

I know that one size does not fit all and often that can be the reason, if you bought a book initially to help, it either didn’t answer all your questions or wasn’t specific enough to the sleep challenges you are experiencing. You, your baby and your whole family are unique!

I will gather your information through carefully thought out questions, you will provide me with a log via an app that I will analyze before putting together your plan and we can talk through the options that are at hand to help you.
