Pancakes For Sleep

RECIPE

These Pancakes Are Good For Sleep!

Your toddler will love them!

Happy Pancake Day!

It’s Shrove Tuesday – a day my kids look forward to this day all year (although it’s not the only day of the year they have pancakes or crèpes).

Over breakfast, they discussed what they were giving up for Lent this year. It ranged from vegetables, homework, and school, oh, and crisps (chips). I’m not sure that’s the point! ⁣

I was looking to see if there are any pancake recipes that are sleep-inducing and I found one! Not only will these pancakes promote sleep, but they’re also sugar-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free. As my oldest is gluten-free, I love finding a great recipe that I can make for the whole family as opposed to something different for him.

Did I mention this recipe is easy? I love easy!

Banana Pancakes

Mash up a banana, add two eggs and mix well. (it comes out fine with 1 egg as well)⁣

To make them fluffier, add a pinch of baking powder.

That’s it! Now you can fry them up, just like any other pancake, in a non-stick pan with a little coconut oil or butter.

So simple!

⁣You can add additional flavours to the batter if you wish. ⁣

A few drops of vanilla extract or cinnamon would be great. ⁣

It’s best to make them small (3-4″) and wait until they’re fully cooked before flipping. ⁣

The Best Part – Yummy Toppings

So many choices for toppings! If you’re looking for sugar-free options, free berries or pureed apple (applesauce) are great. ⁣

I admit that Canadian ? maple syrup is my favourite topping.⁣

Promotes Healthy Sleep

⁣Extra bonus! Bananas are great to promote healthy sleep. They have a combination of potassium and magnesium. Potassium is known to support deeper sleep, and magnesium can help calm the central nervous system, encouraging a better quality of sleep. Eggs are a good source of tryptophan and an excellent protein source, helping your little one feel fuller for longer.

It’s a great meal or snack for Pancake Day AND year-round!⁣
